The 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) were held on the evening of November 29 at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Super Junior was the big winner of the night, and among those attending or performing were 2NE1, IU, and Girls' Generation. American group the Black Eyed Peas also performed, and American hip-hop artists Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre also attended.
MAMA has been criticized in recent years as it has failed to attract large audiences abroad and many top Korean artists, including those receiving awards, have failed to attend.

Kim Hyun Joong stood proud as a hallyu star in Singapore, as many foreign media outlets rushed to report his every word.
Kim was bombarded with questions at the welcome meeting event held in Singapore on November 29 for the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).
Kim will be attending MAMA as a nominee for both the Male Singer Award and the Best Solo Dance Performance Award, and at the press conference, he received questions from press from Korea, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan and Germany.
Everyone seemed to be interested on whether Kim had any plans to visit their own country, and showed great interest in Kim’s future plans for overseas promotions.
When the Hong Kong press asked whether he had any plans to visit Hong Kong, Kim said, “I visited Hong Kong because I was awarded for three years in a row at the Yahoo Asia Buzz Awards which [awards its nominees based on] online polls. I hope I get to go this year, too.”
The Philippine press asked whether he had any new projects for his Philippine fans, and he answered, “I’ll be acting again in a drama in April next year. My Philippine fans will also be able to see me act then.”
The Japanese press wished to know how he felt about being a solo singer and what kind of music he wished to sing in the future. Kim said, “It’s true that solo promotions are physically and emotionally more draining than group promotions. I still have a long way to go, but I’ll work harder.”
The German press asked Kim what he thought about German women. He answered, “I don’t know about German women, but Germany reminds me of dark beer and sausages.” He made his audience laugh by saying, “I believe that Germans drink a lot of dark beer even during lunch.”
The 2011 MAMA will hold a grand show in Singapore with not only Korean artists, but artists from around the world to fit its main concept Music Makes One, a dream to bring the world together through music. Singer Kim Hyun Joong has announced that he will be starring in a drama soon.
On November 29th, the star attended a press conference for the ‘2011 MAMA‘ in Singapore’s Sands Expo Convention Center. He said, “It hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but I will be acting in April of next year. We originally had a world tour in mind, but we postponed that for the drama.”
He continued, “I heard that I did well on the Billboard charts. I am very happy about that. It feels real that being #1 in Korea means being #1 in the world.”

Now that we know who will be performing at tomorrow’s 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), the MAMA organizers have unveiled the award show’s unique stage design.
The MAMA organizers recently released an image of the stage designed specifically for the 2011 MAMA, which will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 29. The centerpieces of the stage are the three arches designed in the shape of the Chinese character for ‘human (人).’ According to a press released by MAMA organizers, the character embodies the award show’s theme of ‘Music Makes One’ and aim to bring Asians all around the world together through music. Other notable features of the stage are the two circular structures flanking the arches.
“The circular structures set up midair next to the both sides of the stage are design inspirations taken from the main theme of MAMA which represents a cultural network and integrated universe of Asia as a whole,” said MAMA organizers. “These stage design elements embody the true meaning behind MAMA bringing the world together as one through music.”
In addition to special performances by confirmed guests Black Eyed Peas members will.i.am and apl.de.ap as well as hip hop artists Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Chinese pianist Lang Lang will take the stage with Korean idol group B2ST for a special collaborative performance of Fiction.
The 2011 MAMA is expected to kick off at 5 p.m. KST with a red carpet event before the main event takes place at 7 p.m. KST. This year, the show will be broadcast in 20 different countries, reaching an unprecedented 1.9 viewers through live TV broadcasts, digital platforms like YouTube as well as via mobile devices.

Kim Hyun Joong successfully wrapped up the Japanese Tour fan meetings.
Kim Hyun Joong met with 30,000 fans in Osaka, Sapporo, Sendai, Hiroshima, Yokohama, Nagoya, Tokyo, and Fukuoka during the 2 weeks starting November 9th.
Kim Hyun Joong gave the fans a fantastic stage with top of the line sessions and production teams, laser beams, and even a stage produced specifically for his performance. He mesmerized the fans with the kinds of charms that have not been seen during his promotional periods on music programs.
Kim Hyun Joong put on colorful performances with the hits off of his 1st and 2nd mini albums, including ‘Lucky Guy’, ‘Break Down’, and ‘Kiss Kiss’. But he also presented other songs that were loved by his fans, on stage for the first time and the response was no less heated than his comeback stage.
It is also said that through the talk time with the fans, Kim Hyun Joong openly discussed many things in an honest and friendly manner.
On November 23, the last day of the tour, the fans of Fukuoka continue to applaud and request encores. Even after the fan meeting was over, many fans could not leave the area full of emotions from the performance causing a bit of chaos in the area.
After releasing his 2nd mini album ‘Lucky’ back in October, Kim Hyun Joong has dominated the online music sales charts and mobile downloads, he has also the won the No.1 spot on KBS ‘Music Bank’ K-Chart on the week of his comeback.

He toured eight cities including Osaka, Sapporo, Sendai, Hiroshima, Yokohama, Nagoya, Tokyo and Fukuoka for two weeks starting from November 9th and put on fantastic performances along with top session musicians and directors on a specially designed stage.
He sang the title songs off his first and second mini-albums including Lucky Guy, Breakdown, and Kiss Kiss among other songs, but was met with the most enthusiastic responses when he interacted with the audience with his trademark candid banter.
At the last fan meeting of the tour, held on November 23 in Fukuoka, fans’ applauses and encore requests continued for a long time, and the audience members could not (would not?) leave the venue after the event was over, causing extreme congestion in the whole area.
Meanwhile, Kim claimed the top spot on a slew of music charts with his second mini-album Lucky and also ranked no.1 on KBS’ Music Bank the week of his comeback. Kim also ranked in the top 5 on Billboard’s World Album Chart, while topping Billboard’s Biggest Jump Chart and Japan′s Oricon weekly chart in the import albums category.

After focusing on his acting career, SS501‘s Kim Hyun Joong is more than ready to turn the focus back to singing. He’s been in high-drive lately, releasing back to back albums in the same year and delving into styles and concepts that most singers go through in double the time.
Why the rush? Kim Hyun Joong took the time to explain why, as well as some news on future releases through his interview with Segye Ilbo.
The singer stated, “First of all, I’m planning to release a ballad in December through a digital single with a unique music video to go with it. In January, I’m going to release another mini-album. Considering my schedule, I don’t have room to space them out. I’m also going on a tour next year to meet up with more of my fans so I’m trying to have some good songs under my belt before then. As for an official studio album, I think I prefer a mini-album with five or so songs.”
His recent “Lucky Guy” comeback was inspired by the movie ‘Ocean’s Eleven‘. He stated, “You can consider the album mainstream, but also modern. My concept is freedom. I remember seeing the movie Ocean’s Eleven and just thinking to myself, ‘That’s it.’ I set the physical concept first and then began to collect songs.”
He continued, “As for ‘Lucky Guy‘, it sounds like a song that would be performed with a band on stage, but I actually have a fun choreography to go with it. It’s a song that I made out of hope of creating something that’s considered band music, but also something that you can dance to. I made sure my outfits were also colorful to give that ‘dandy guy’ look.”
He’s already sold 110,000 album units so far, but that shouldn’t be a surprise considering he’s Kim Hyun joong.
“There’s a limit as to how far you can go as a dance singer. When I’m older, I’m sure I’ll be pursuing different genres, so when I have some time to myself, I want to sit down and try music that I’ve always wanted to pursue since I was younger. I actually love band music and play the bass myself. Still, I want to learn more instruments and create something all my own. At the beginning of SS501′s debut, I liked the thought of being a celebrity, but I think that’s inevitable as a young teen. Either way, I think it’s important to not be content with where you are now and to always work towards improving yourself.”
On the topic of dating, he said, “All of the girls I meet are strictly for business purposes so I don’t have anyone I’m dating. If I do have one, I guess pictures would be taken of us.”
Kim Hyun Joong will be making his comeback on Mnet‘s ‘M! Countdown‘ on October 20th.

Kim Hyun Joong is currently working hard to bring "Kim Hyun Joong-First Tour 2011 in Japan" to a successful conclusion.
Kim Hyun Joong started touring on November 9 in Osaka and he visited 7 Japanese cities, including, Sapporo, Sendai, Hiroshima, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Tokyo. He will hold his last fan meeting in Fukuoka on November 23.
Kim Hyun Joong attended the rehearsal seriously and acted professionally, even though the venue was empty.
He said he will do his best to make the performance the best for his fans. Many fans are sad because this is Kim Hyun Joong's last tour date.
Kim Hyun Joong's second mini album Lucky, which was released in November, ranked first on the "Imported Album Category" of the Japanese Oricon Daily Chart.

The nine members from Super Junior strode into the press conference venue at the Seoul Olympic Stadium, sporting black crisp suits, for a short meeting with both the Korean and foreign media. At the invitation of Running Into The Sun (RITS) and the Korean Tour Organization (KTO), xinmsn was part of all the action as we attended both the press conference and the concert on Sunday afternoon. With a long song list that is made up of 38 tracks and a wide repertoire of solo performances from the boys, leader Leeteuk promised to bring fans "a very unique opening" as Shindong quipped, "The editing of our songs is different and new, the concert's scale is also bigger than before and we have also added in new dance performances." "This is the biggest scale concert we've had of all the Super Shows. It's like the lyrics of our song 'Superman' [from their fifth album, Mr Simple]," added Leeteuk. When xinmsn asked the group what local fans can expect to see from Super Show 4 when it comes to Singapore on Feb 17, Leeteuk replied that they will be able to "meet fans much closer than before" now. He quipped, "I remember that Singapore sent us a lot of love. Thank you for your love and support, please wait for us."

Calling all Hallyu fans -- mark this date down: 17 February, 2012. That's when K-pop super boyband Super Junior invades Singapore as part of the Supershow 4 World Tour in support of their fifth album, Mr Simple. [SLIDESHOW: Super Junior in concert] The group, which is down to nine members after one of them enlisted for national service, last played in Singapore earlier this year in January. Then, they played to over 10,000 fans over two sold-out nights. Next year's concert, which is again expected to be a sell-out, will be held at the Indoor Stadium. Beatrice Chia-Richmond, creative director of organisers Running Into The Sun, said, "We've witnessed the massive appeal of Super Junior when they were here for Super Show 3 earlier this year; and how it broke all barriers to attract fans across all age groups." The boy band recently kicked off their Super Show 4 World Tour in Seoul this weekend and if that is any indication of what their Singapore gig will be like, their armies of screaming teen fans are sure in for a treat. In Seoul, the boys played from a set list of over 40 songs in a 4-hour concert extravanganza punctuated by their trademark tight choreography, a dazzling light-and-laser production and a 360-degree stage set-up that will allow them to come up close -- real close -- to their fans. Group leader Leeteuk said of their upcoming concert in Singapore, "I remember Singapore fans sending us many letters of appreciation and we are very appreciative of the support. During the Singapore concert, we will be able to go even nearer to the fans and we will return the love." Ticket prices have yet to be revealed but this is what fans can expect.
